‘ITUKAMA’ COVID-19 Fund balance surpasses Rs. 1.4 billion

The ‘ITUKAMA’ COVID-19, Healthcare and Social Security Fund balance has surpassed Rs. 1,448 million.  

M.A.H.P. Marasinghe, an 84-year-old female teacher, handed over a sum of Rs. 200,000 yesterday (July 06) to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as her contribution to the fund during President’s visit to Puttalam.  

Meanwhile, the National Hospital for Respiratory Diseases, Welisara donated Rs. 135,044.53. The cheque was received by Maj. Gen. (Retd) K.B. Egodawele, Director-General (Administration) of Presidential Secretariat.  

In addition, Ayagama Divisional Secretariat has donated Rs. 34,865.95 while Beruwala Urban Council donated Rs. 131,200 to the fund.  

So far, local as well as foreign donors have made their contributions to the fund, the President’s Media Division stated.
