Wanted PNB inspector in alleged drug racket surrenders

Inspector of Police (IP) Weherawatta Kankanamlage Saman Wasantha Kumara attached to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB), wanted for involving in an alleged drug racket surrendered with the Kadawatha Police this morning (July 07).

The suspect was wanted over for ongoing investigations, involving in several PNB officers for allegedly passing drugs taken into the custody of the Bureau.

Earlier, public assistance was sought to apprehend the 49-year-old suspect who was evading arrest.

On July 02, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested 11 PNB officers who have sold a consignment of drugs to drug dealers.

These officers were identified following investigations over four PNB officers including one Sub Inspector (SI), two sergeants and one constable arrested for associating with drug traffickers.
