Outgoing Navy Chief pays courtesy call on Defence Secretary
July 14, 2020Outgoing Navy Commander Admiral Piyal De Silva made a courtesy call on Defence Secretary Maj. Gen. (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne at the Ministry, today (July 14).
Outgoing Navy Commander was promoted to the rank of Admiral by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa with effect from today (14).
He is due to retire tomorrow (July 15) after his 36 years of long Naval career.
Appointed as the Sri Lanka Navy Commander on January 1, 2019, he was SLN’s 23rd Commander.
Defence Secretary during the cordial discussion, praised the services of the outgoing Navy Chief and wished him for his future endeavours.
Mementos were also exchanged to mark the occasion.
