Japan extends financial aid to strengthen anti-narcotic initiatives
July 14, 2020The Japanese government has agreed to provide Rs. 340 million worth of financial aid for capacity building of the anti-narcotic initiatives of the Sri Lanka Police Department.
According to the Finance Ministry, the financial grant will be provided under the Japanese non-project grant aid scheme for provision of necessary equipment based on the request of the Sri Lankan Government.
The grant will facilitate in modernizing and upgrading narcotic detection capabilities and capacities of the Police.
The Exchange of Notes pertaining to the grant were signed by the Finance, Economic and Policy Development Ministry Secretary S. R. Attygalle on behalf of the Sri Lankan Government and Japanese Ambassador Sugiyama Akira yesterday (July 13).
