Govt. refutes misinformation over Coronavirus on social media
July 15, 2020- No curfew or holidays declared
The Government urged the public to be cautious and not to be misled by various misinformation campaigns related to the Coronavirus situation circulated over social media.
In a media release issued on Tuesday (July 14), the Government Information Department stated that relevant steps have been taken to identify the coronavirus-infected persons and their contacts and to direct them to the quarantine procedure without delay.
The government has taken all necessary measures to arrest the spread of COVID-19 in Sri Lanka with new positive cases linked to the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Centre, the releases stated.
The Department has refuted rumours over a possible declaration of holidays or re-imposing of curfew due to the ongoing situation.
The government has not arrived at any such decision thus far, the statement has stated.
