SLN nabs 164 kilos of Kerala cannabis from Northern seas
July 17, 2020Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) has taken two persons with a haul of 164 kilos of Kerala cannabis worth of Rs. 180,000 during a special operation conducted at the seas off Mandathivu Island, Jaffna yesterday (16), Navy Media Spokesman Captain Indika De Silva said.
He said the arrest was made during a raid carried out after detecting a suspicious dingy off Mandathivu Island. Both drug peddlers, who are from Jaffna, were handed over to the Police Special Task Force, Jaffna for further investigations.
According to SLN, it has seized over 3,376 kilos of Kerala cannabis during the operations conducted during the last seven-months.
The arrest was made following proper healthcare procedures to contain the spread of coronavirus global pandemic, he said.
