Relief measures for SL workers in Italy
July 22, 2020Foreign Ministry has taken steps to provide relief measures for over 20,000 Sri Lankan workers in Italy while enabling them to afford and apply for visas to work in Italy with valid SL passports through the amnesty granted by Italian authorities under the ‘SANATORIA 2020’ program from June 1 to August 15, 2020.
Foreign Ministry said the penalty fee applicable for documentation shortages of workers applying for Sri Lankan passports will be waived-off while reducing the charges to Euro 140 from Euro 330 and Euro 420.
These steps were taken considering the hardships experienced by the Sri Lankan workers amidst the coronavirus pandemic situation, Foreign Ministry said.
