Green light for repatriation of Sri Lankan nationals from overseas
July 29, 2020Resuming repatriation for Sri Lankan nationals awaiting their return from overseas, the process will begin for two batches consisting of 275 expats each initially from Dubai on July 31 and the second batch from Abu Dhabi on August 1, Additional Secretary to the President for Foreign Relations Admiral (Retd) Prof. Jayanath Colombage, said today (29).
He told defence.lk, this decision was taken with the situation being improved and facilities are also now adequate for quarantine process.
Onward repatriation schedules would also be considered favourably according to the situation, he said.
The government led repatriation process was suspended temporarily with effect from July 14, until the situation of the country improves and easing of quarantine facilities.
SriLankan Airlines flights were also operated to repatriate the stranded Sri Lankans from various coronavirus pandemic-hit destinations under President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's directives previously.
