SLN nabs turmeric smuggling racket via sea
July 30, 2020Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) nabbed a suspect with 1,000 kg of turmeric packed in 20 sacks at the Mannar beach while smuggling into the island via sea.
Following a suspicious movement, SLN patrol craft on duty in Mannar nabbed the racketeer involved in the turmeric smuggling.
Seized items were handed over to the Customs Office, Jaffna for investigations while the detainee was produced before the Public Health Inspector, Mannar for 14-days quarantine process.
