Navy brings critically ill fisherman ashore for treatment
August 04, 2020The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) has brought a critically ill fisherman ashore for treatment, yesterday (Aug 3).
The 57-year-old fisherman, resident of Beruwala, had left for fishing on-board multi-day fishing trawler 'Yasiru Putha' from Galle Harbour on July 29.
Following a chest pain while in the sea about 50 nautical miles off Southeast of Galle, the fishermen had alerted the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, which had then conveyed to the Maritime Rescue Coordinating Centre at the SLN Headquarters.
SLN initiating swift measures had brought the patient safely ashore while administering basic first-aid and sent to the Karapitiya Hospital for treatment.
