General Election 2020 concludes peacefully

The General Election for Sri Lanka's  9th Parliament was conducted peacefully at 5 pm, today, the Police said.

According to the Police 29 election related violations were reported,  34 persons arrested and nine vehicles were taken into custody during polls.

Voting for General Election 2020 commenced at 7.00 a.m. today at 12,985 polling stations around the country and polling centers were open until 5.00 p.m. for the voters.

Sri Lanka Police have deployed over 69,500 Policemen with 3,000 Police mobile units for election related duties around the country to ensure a fair and peaceful election.
