Ten Sri Lankans injured in Beirut explosions

The number of injured Sri Lankans due to the Beirut explosions has increased to 10 persons, said Foreign Relations Ministry yesterday (Aug 06).

Sri Lankan Embassy in Lebanon has announced that it would continue to remain open for queries and to serve the public between 8 am to 4 pm daily.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had conveyed the condolence to the President Michel Aoun.

According to the Foreign Relations Ministry, damages reported to the residences of the Embassy staffers are also being repaired now.   

A programme has also set up to distribute dry rations, Foreign Relations Ministry said.

The total number injured has exceeded 5, 000 persons and the death toll has increased to 137.

Lebanon has declared a state of national mourning for three days while the Supreme Defense Council declared Beirut a disaster city.  

Since a state of emergency has been declared for a period of two weeks from Aug 4, Lebanon would be in lockdown status until Aug 10.
