Ranaviru Flag pinned on the President
March 06, 2019Symbolizing the commencement of the War Heroes' Commemoration Month - 2019, the first Ranaviru Flag was pinned on the President Maithripala Sirisena during a ceremony at the Presidential Secretariat on Tuesday (05 March).
'Ranaviru Commemoration Year' was also declared by the President at the occasion to coincide with the completion of a decade since the end of the Humanitarian Operation to rid the country of terrorism.
The first flag pinned on the President by the Chairperson of the Ranaviru Seva Authority, Major General J.J.P.S.T Liyanage (Retd). Hon. State Minister of Defence, Ruwan Wijewardene, Parliamentarians, Provincial Governors and Tri Forces Commanders were also present at the occasion.
The 'Ranaviru' commemoration period formally commenced on Tuesday (05) and will continue till 05 June (2019).
