Defence Ministry comes under President Rajapaksa's purview
August 12, 2020- Chamal Rajapaksa sworn in as the State Minister
While retaining the Defence Ministry under President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's purview, he has appointed MP Chamal Rajapaksa as the State Minister during the swearing-in ceremony held at the historic Magul Maduwa (Audience Hall) of the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy, today (Aug 12).
Minister Rajapaksa was sworn-in as the State Minister of Internal Security, Home Affairs and Disaster Management. He has served as the 19th Speaker of the 7th Parliament from 2010 to 2015.
In addition to his State ministerial portfolios, he is the Cabinet Minister of Irrigation.
