STF nabs illegal firearms 'Mini-Factory'
August 13, 2020The Special Task Force (STF) raided a 'mini-factory' that manufactured illegal firearms - shotguns, live rounds and equipment used for firearm manufacturing- in Madagangoda, Walasmulla and has taken the owner into the custody, last evening (Aug 12).
During the raid conducted following a tip-off, STF nabbed locally assembled two small arms, six 7.62 x 39 mm live rounds, two 9 x 19 mm live rounds, three SG live rounds, three 7.62 x 39 mm empty rounds, a welding plant with several equipment and tools used for firearm assembling.
The suspect, 61-year-old resident in Galkolahena, Madagangoda will be produced before the Walasmulla Magistrate Court for onward legal proceedings today (Aug 13).
Walasmulla Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
