Police cautious parents on drug rackets using inhalers

Police have busted a drug racket using inhalers that distributed among school children recently,  Police Spokesman SSP Jaliya Senaratne said, today (Aug 16).

He said drug peddlers sell  this new inhale device stuff with illegal drugs as  respiratory medicine.

SSP Senaratne told defence.lk that parents have informed the Police about these inhalers which are sold in close proximity of schools targeting students at a cost of Rs.15, 000 each.

Police Spokesman requested general public, especially the parents and teachers, to be vigilant and to provide information about racketeers.

Police have set up two new hotlines, 1997 and 1917 and also via email  1917@Police.lk for  public to provide such information.

The Police also said the confidentiality of the complaints would be assured.
