15 prison officers interdicted, 21 transferred during last two months
August 17, 2020Commissioner of Prisons (Administration/ Rehabilitation and Skill Development) Chandana Ekanayaka said 15 prison officers have been interdicted from the service while 21 others have been transferred during the past two months from June 10 upto now.
The officers from Boossa, Negombo, Wariyapola and Bogambara prisons have been transferred following intelligence reports received, he added.
Recently, Defence Secretary Maj. Gen. (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne speaking at a professionals' forum revealed that there was video evidence of a prison official worshipping the notorious underworld criminal and drug smuggler Kanjipani Imran who is now imprisoned at the Boossa prison.
