STF arrests Podi Lassi’s aide with firearms
August 28, 2020The Special Task Force (STF) has arrested a close associate of notorious organized criminal Janith Madusanka De Silva alias Podi Lassi along with firearms and live rounds in a house at Wathugedara, Ambalangoda, today (Aug 28).
A T56 weapon, a pistol, two shot guns, four T56 magazines with 98 live rounds, micro pistol magazine, 53 numbers of 9 mm rounds, four 12 bore rounds, handcuffs, mobile phone, two smoke grenades and a hand grenade were also taken into custody during the raid.
The Police had also taken Podi Lassi's mother for managing finances earned through smuggling of drugs while she was hiding at Maya Avenue, Pannipitiya, recently (Aug 24).
Podi Lassi is now serving a jail term in the Boosa Prison which was recently converted to imprison hardcore criminals including wanted drug smugglers.
