SLN nabs two gold smugglers in Karainagar
August 30, 2020Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) has taken two persons who smuggled five kilos and 500 grams in Karainagar.
They were taken into custody in a joint operation carried out with the Sri Lanka Coast Guard in the Northern Seas while they were trying to smuggle gold via sea routes on August 28.
The two smugglers with the haul of gold, who came in suspected dingy boat was taken into custody in the special joint operation carried out 14.5 nautical miles away from the Kovilan Lighthouse in Karainagar.
The suspects 30 and 32-year-old and the smuggled gold were handed over to the Customs Office, Jaffna for further investigations.
