SLN busts 1,428 kilos of dried turmeric in Kalpitiya
August 30, 2020Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) nabbed six suspects, a dinghy boat and two vehicles with 1,428 kilos of turmeric, while transporting at Kalpitiya yesterday (Aug 30).
SLN suspects that a haul of turmeric was smuggled into the island via Thoraiadi Pier in Kalpitiya.
The suspects aged between 20 to 44-year-old residents of Kotiyakumbura, Kalpitiya, were handed over to the Kalpitiya Police for further investigations.
Further investigations in Norochcholai and Wella Island in Kalpitiya are conducted to nab turmeric smugglers.
