Navy provides safe drinking water for over 1,000 villagers in Mahiyanganaya
August 30, 2020Fulfilling a long-felt need Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) has installed Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plants to provide water for villagers in Beligalla and Wavugampaha in Mahiyanganaya, yesterday (29).
The new RO plants provide safe drinking water for over 1,000 villagers living in Dharmavijaya Buddhist Centre, Diyabana Ela in Beligalla and in Meegahapitiya
The new water facility was declared opened under the directives of the South-Eastern Naval Command amidst blessings of Ven. Maha Sanga, at the Dharmavijaya Buddhist Centre.
This new plant, according to SLN, provides drinking water not only for residents, but also for pilgrims visiting Buddhist temples in the area.
Chief Prelates of the regional Buddhist Temples, Assistant Divisional Secretary Mahiyanganaya, SLN officials, sailors and a large gathering of residents were present at the occasion.
