Secretary graces 'Tripitakabhivandana' week religious ceremony
March 16, 2019The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Mr. Hemasiri Fernando graced the initial religious ceremony held in view of the 'Tripitakabhivandana' Week declared to mark the occasion of initiating the process in order to declare the Theravada Tripitaka, the sacred scripture of Buddhists, as a World Heritage on Saturday (16 March).
A Pindapatha Alms giving was organized by the Cinnamon Garden Police Station with the participation of 67 Buddhist monks. The event was held at the Independence Square on Saturday Morning.
The 'Tripitakabhivandana' Week has been declared from 16th to 23rd of this month. (March).
Senior state officials, Commander of the Army and the Inspector General of Police were also present at the occasion.
