SLN prevents blazing oil tanker drifting towards ashore
September 04, 2020Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) has taken measures to avoid potential drifting of the distressed oil tanker ‘MT New Diamond’ still on fire at the seas off Sangaman Kanda towards the island with a tow arrangement by the SLN ships, Navy Spokesman Capt. Indika De Silva said short while ago.
SLN led firefighting operations are continuing tirelessly for the second day jointly with the Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Ports Authority and Marine Environment Protection Authority with the assistance of Indian Navy and Coast Guard ships.
