STF foils 10 kilos of gold smuggling attempt
September 08, 2020The Special Task Force (STF) in Puttalam nabbed 10 kilos of gold biscuits while transporting in a car at around 3.00 a.m. today (Sep 8), the Police said.
STF nabbed the suspect aged 34-year-old resident of Kandakuliya area at the Palanthudawa Junction, Palaviya - Kalpitiya road following information received on the gold smuggling racket.
Following a careful search carried out into the alleged vehicle, gold pieces were recovered while they were concealed under car seat the STF said.
STF is conducting further investigations into the incident.
