President presents 'Vishishta Seva Vibhushana'
May 22, 2019President Maithripala Sirisena presented "Vishishta Seva Vibhushanaya (Distinguished Service Decoration)" medals to senior officers of the Sri Lanka Army, Navy and Air-Force, today (22nd) morning at the Presidential Secretariat.
These medals were awarded to the Senior Officers of the Regular Forces of the tri services for exceptional and distinguished services with 25 years of loyal service.
The ceremony began with the playing of the national anthem, which was flowed by 2-minutes silence to honour the soldiers who sacrifices their lives.
65 retired officers of the Tri Forces were honored with medals of services of excellence and they included 40 army officers, 12 navy officers and 13 Air force officers.
After the presentation of medals they posed for a photograph with the President.
State Minister of Defence Hon. Ruwan Wijewardene, Secretary to the President Mr. Udaya R. Senevirathne, Defence Secretary General Shantha Kottegoda, Chief of Defence Staff, Tri Forces Commanders and senior Tri Forces officers also participated in this event.
