SLAF drones assist Police to enforce ‘Traffic Lane Rule’
September 16, 2020Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) launched a drone operation program covering Rajagiriya, Nugegoda, Borella and Galle Road, in Colombo to observe and report the traffic status-quo to the Police authorities manning the ‘Traffic Lane Law’ in Colombo suburbs from yesterday (15).
The three-day special awareness program for motorists on Traffic Lane Law was successfully concluded today (16).
The Police said this program, which was to be launched earlier, was suspended due to Coronavirus outbreak, was re-introduced to reduce the traffic congestion in Colombo along with bus priority lanes.
According to SLAF, drones were used for efficient traffic management jointly with the Police within the Colombo suburbs.
The Police also directed, three-wheelers and motorcyclists to follow the bus priority lane from today (16).
The drivers who violate the Traffic Lane Law will be fined in future, the Police said.
