Navy recovers abandoned explosives from Mullivaikkal
September 16, 2020Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) recovered a haul of explosives and mortars in a private land at Mullivaikkal area in Mullaithivu, yesterday (15).
A haul of mine assembling ingredients including seven 81mm mortars, an electric detonator, 45 kilos of TNT, five kilos of C4, 15 unidentified fuses, 118 expelling chargers and a claymore mine with a part of an unidentified bomb approximately 8 kilos were among the recovery, SLN said.
SLN suspects that the abandoned explosives must have been left behind during the Humanitarian Operation.
Recovered items have been handed over to the Mullaithivu Police for legal proceedings.
