Army commences repairing artificial limbs of disabled war heroes

September 21, 2020

Two minor prosthetic units for servicing and repairs of artificial limbs of disabled war heroes have been established recently at two wellness resorts.

The units facilitate injured war heroes, largely residents in Anuradhapura and Kurunegala districts, preventing them from reaching either Ragama Ranaviru Sevana or the ‘Senasuma’ in Galle for such alterations and repairs.

On the directions of the Army Chief Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva, the Commandants of both wellness resorts, ‘Abhimansala-1’ in Anuradhapura and ‘Abhimansala-3’ in Pangolla established the two units.

12 disabled war heroes from Anuradhapura, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Kandy and adjoining areas got the service of these two units on the first day.

Those two Units are now open to all disabled War Heroes in any part of the island.

Brigadier Thusitha Hettiarachchi, Commandant, ‘Abhimansala-1’ at Anuradhapura and Colonel Aruna Wijegunawardena, Commandant, ‘Abhimansala-3’ and several administrative Officers joined the occasion.
