SLA nabs Rs. 21 million worth turmeric and kerala cannabis
September 24, 2020Sri Lanka Army (SLA) nabbed four smugglers with a haul of 205 kilos of dried turmeric and 104 kilos of kerala cannabis last evening (23).
Kerala cannabis worth of Rs. 20.8 million, smuggled into the country was nabbed at the Kunchikulam roadblock while they were transporting in a freezer truck last evening, the Army said.
The haul of dried turmeric was recovered during a search of a light truck carrying smuggled stocks at a roadblock along the Medawachchiya-Mannar road on an intelligence received.
SLA troops of 7 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and 15 (Volunteer) Gemunu Watch in Mannar foiled both illegal smuggling attempts.
Investigations into the incidents are conducted by the respective legal bodies, SLA confirmed.
