SERRIC Celebrates Word Children’s Day
October 01, 2020First Lady Ayoma Rajapaksa graced the Children’s Day celebration ceremony held at the ‘Senehasa Education Resource Research and Information Centre’ (SERRIC) as the Chief Guest at Narahenpita, Colombo 5 today (Oct 1).
During the ceremony, the First Lady Ayoma Rajapaksa launched the SERRIC’s official web portal www.senehasa.care.lk.
Amidst the flow of today’s joyful events and displays performed by the children, gifts were also distributed among them.
SERRIC is an institution established under the purview of the Defence Ministry for Tri Forces, Police and Civil Security Department families’ children with special needs.
While special care and attention is given to the children with disabilities and impairments, SERRIC is an information hub to learn and acquire knowledge in child development.
Identifying, assessing innate abilities, strengths and weaknesses of such children, providing clinical support, parental guidance and counselling, promote research for the development of children, with pre-vocational training unique to the individual are some of its objectives.

Shavendra Silva and President Army SVU Mrs Sujeewa Nelson, Navy Commander Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and Chairperson Navy SVU Mrs Chandima Ulugetenne, Air Force Commander Air Marshal Sumangala Dias and Chairperson Air Force SVU Mrs Prabavi Dias, Director General Civil Security Department (CSD) Rear Admiral Ananda Peiris and Chairperson CSD SVU Mrs Kumuduni Peiris, Ranaviru Seva Authority (RVSA) Chairman Maj. Gen. (Retd) Nandana Senadeera and Mrs Reka Senadeera, Additional Secretaries of the Defence Ministry including Mrs Samanthi Weerasinghe, senior military officials, philanthropists and parents were also present at the occasion.
