Quarantine curfew to contain coronavirus in Divulapitiya and Minuwangoda

Quarantine curfew has been imposed in Divulapitiya and Minuwangoda Police divisions in Gampaha district with immediate effect today (Oct 4).

According to the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), a 39-year-old female, a resident in Divulapitiya area, Gampaha district was found positive for coronavirus and all measures have been taken to contain the virus spread.

The Police request the residents of areas exposed to coronavirus to remain in their residences during the curfew period.

Both entry into and exit from these areas would be curtailed including the traveling through for the general public, the Police said.

The patient was transferred to the IDH Hospital for treatments and her close associates were directed for quarantine, NOCPCO confirmed.

Health Ministry is now conducting PCR tests for all those associated with the recent victim.

The Education Ministry announced that the school vacation which had been scheduled on Oct 9 was advanced by a week, and therefore the vacation would be effective from tomorrow (5).

According to the University Grants Commission’s sources, the Kelaniya University and the Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute, Yakkala will also be closed for a week from Oct 5.

Meanwhile, Gampaha Advanced Technological Institute, Naiwala notified the closure of the Institute for a week from Oct 5.

Investigations are conducted to trace the source of recent virus outbreak.
