Poppy Flower pinned on Defence Secretary

Maj. Gen. (Retd) Upul Perera, President of the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen's Association (SLESA), pinned a Poppy Flower on the Defence Secretary Maj. Gen. (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne at the Ministry, today (Oct 05).

The Poppy Flower was pinned on the Defence Secretary following a cordial discussion held with the SLESA delegation arrived at the Ministry today.

Poppy Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth countries since the end of the First World War to commemorate the fallen armed forces personnel whilst on duty.

In remembrance of all the martyrs who laid down their lives in the World Wars, SLESA organizes the Remembrance Day every year.
