Army Suspended its 71st Anniversary Commemorations
October 07, 2020The forthcoming 71st Army Anniversary Day programmes have been suspended with immediate effect considering the present status of coronavirus cluster in the Gampaha District.
The Army Day is celebrated on a grand scale annually on 10 October.
Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) yesterday (Oct 06) suspended the scheduled events, the Army confirmed.
The earlier scheduled Army Day Ceremony on 10 October 2020 to be held at Galle Face Green, with the gracious presence of HE the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces as the Chief Guest.
