Factory owners to adhere healthcare guidelines

Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi informed all garment factory owners and company management representatives to strictly adhere to the healthcare guidelines and precautions while ensuring that their employees are not exposing to outsiders in the society.

Health Minister while convening a meeting with the garment factory owners and company management representatives yesterday (Oct 13) at the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), closely evaluated the present developments in depth, discussed emergency prevention procedures and emergency action plan to be adopted in countrywide factories and offices, to curb its transmission to the outside society.

Health Ministry Secretary, Head of NOCPCO, Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander and acting Director General Health Services were also present at the meeting.  

Factory owners were informed to implement temperature testing for employees at least thrice a day, close inspection of their accommodation, close contacts and frequenting public places, constant change of working hours and shifts to ease up congestion in transport systems, supply of meals, etc., updating of correct addresses of employees with necessary other particulars and facilitation of contact-tracing during the meeting.  

They were also instructed to liaise closely with respective MOH authorities, Public Health Inspectors, Epidemiologists and so on to receive all updates and necessary guidelines.
