Met Dept alerts on more rains
October 15, 2020The Meteorology Department stated that showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
Fairly heavy rainfalls above 75mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Nuwara-Eliya, Kandy, Galle and Matara districts, the Met Dept added.
A few showers may occur in Anuradhapura and Hambantota districts.
Strong gusty winds about (50-60) kmph can be expected across the island, particularly in the Northern, North-central and North-western provinces, Trincomalee and Hambanthota districts and in the western slopes of the central hills.
Marine weather forecast informs Naval and fishing communities to be vigilant and it will be dangerous to venture into the sea areas extending from Hambanthota to Pottuvil and the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Kankasanturai via Mannar until 16th morning, October 2020.
