SLN receives 04 PCR machines from Australian HC
October 18, 2020In a bid to strengthen the government’s effort to contain the spread of novel coronavirus in the country, the Australian Department of Defence and the Department of Home Affairs have provided 04 PCR testing machines to the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) in a function held at the Australian High Commissioner’s Residence, Colombo recently.
During the occasion, SLN received 02 machines from the Australian Department of Defence and 02 from the Department of Home Affairs.
Each machine contains the capacity of testing four samples at a time and this initiative from the Australian Government is to enable the SLN to carry out efficient and effective PCR testing.
Defence Adviser Group Capt. Sean Unwin handed over the machines to the SLN during the session.
Australian High Commissioner in Colombo His Excellency David Holly, Navy Commander Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, High Commission’s Counsellor for Home Affairs Mr. Hasan Sowaid and Director Naval Health Services (Diagnosis and Prevention) Surgeon Commodore PJB Marambe were also present at the occasion.
