Army Commander’s League - T20’ finals held
October 18, 2020The finals of the Sri Lanka Army organized maiden Super League, ‘Army Commander’s League-T 20’ concluded yesterday ( Oct 17) at Sri Lanka Army cricket ground at Dombagoda, adhering to strict health guidelines.
The Army said that the tournament aims at selecting the best cricketers to the national pool in keeping with the ‘Live with COVID-19’ notion.
Played over the course of a few days at Dombagoda, beginning from 6 October, the finals were played between ‘Army Southern Warriors’, Dinesh Chandimal and ‘Army Northern Warriors’ captained by Seekkuge Prasanna.
‘Army Southern Warriors’ emerged Champions in the League while ‘Army Northern Warriors’ became the runners up.
The architect behind the tournament, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva awarded the trophies at the awarding ceremony.
The Army’s Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Jagath Gunawardena, Chairman Sri Lanka Army Sports, Deputy Chief of Staff, Chairman Sri Lanka Army Cricket, Senior Officers and President Sri Lanka Cricket attended the event.
