October 19, 2020According to the 16th Session of South Asian Climate Outlook Forum (SASCOF-16), normal rainfall is most likely during the 2020 southwest monsoon season as a whole over most parts of South Asia.
Geographically, above-normal rainfall is most likely over the southern part and some areas of northwestern parts of the region. However, below-normal rainfall is most likely over land areas around North Bay of Bengal and northern most parts of the region. Normal rainfall is most likely over the remaining areas.
Marine weather forecast last week warned naval and fishing communities to be vigilant and it would be dangerous to venture into the sea areas extending from Hambanthota to Pottuvil and the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Kankasanturai via Mannar until 16th morning, October 2020.
