Galkanda QC with 400 beds converted to run as a COVID-19 treatment hospital - Head NOCPCO

Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva said yesterday (Oct 23) that Galkanda Quarantine Centre (QC) with 400 beds had been converted to run as a COVID-19 treatment hospital.

The Army handed over the new COVID-19 treatment hospital to the health officials.

Head of the NOCPCO stated these remarks an emergency meeting of the Task Force at the NOCPCO, attended by all members and experts in the field yesterday (Oct 23).

During the meeting, he further emphasized the need of conducting awareness programmes with better health habits that would greatly reduce the risk of infection of the virus among health workers.

Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva further urged the general public to restrict their unwanted movements in society and stay safe in the homes while adhering to health guidelines.
