October 25, 2020Ministry of Defence is extending the supportive hands to maintain the standards of sacred places of historical value to protect and safeguard them for the future.
Defence Secretary Maj. Gen. (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne held a discussion with Maha Sanga about the proposed renovations of sacred Deegawapiya Stupa last week.
However, foundation stone laying ceremony scheduled to be held on 22 Oct in view of Deegawapi Stupa restoration project was postponed due to an unavoidable circumstance.
The restoration work of the Mihindu Maha Stupa, Mihindu Cave, and the Relics House commenced on 24 October at the Mihintale Temple sacred area.
