No reason for panic-buying and stockpiling - Army Commander
October 29, 2020Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva requested the public not to panic and stockpiling goods while urging them to avoid congested gatherings to prevent further virus spread, while issuing a statement at the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) last evening (Oct 28).
He said these views while reminding the quarantine curfew to be imposed within the Western Province from 12 midnight today (Oct 29) until 5.00 a.m. on 2 November.
He stressed that the curfew in Western Province is a temporary measure and therefore urged the public to refrain from moving out from the province.
The Army Chief stressed that the curfew in the areas where it has already been imposed will not be lifted on Monday (Nov 2).
He said persons engaged in essential services in the Western Province are allowed travel for their duties during the curfew imposed hours.
