Awareness programme with facemasks for Welikanda citizens
October 29, 2020The Army’s 231 Brigade troops distributed a stock of facemasks among civilians and community leaders in the Welikanda area recently while educating people on the importance of its use as a precautionary measure to contain COVID-19.
Troops initiated the programme as a community project in the region under the guidance of 231 Brigade Commander, Col. Prageeth Gamage and the distributed facemasks.
Police, Association of Mobilizing Community Resources, Lions Club and civil authorities extended their support to the programme.
Commander Security Forces – East, Maj. Gen. Chinthaka Gamage and General Officer Commanding, 23 Division Maj. Gen. Dhammika Jayasundara supervised the project.
