Total left hospitals from Minuwangoda Cluster increased to 332

As of this morning (4), a total of 409 more persons were recorded positive to COVID-19 during the past 24 hours and all of them were locally-identified cases, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.

According to the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, the total number of confirmed cases in the island has increased to 11,744.

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory stands at 8,266. Of them, 1041 are factory employees and other 7,225 are locally-identified contacts of the factory employees.

34 persons under quarantine are expected to return home today from respective quarantine centres on completion of the quarantine period.

A total of 63,223 individuals have returned homes on completion of the quarantine process and 2,776 persons are now isolated in 34 tri-service-managed quarantine centres as of today (4).

Within yesterday (3), 10,466 PCR tests were carried out across the country and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 546,803.

332 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals. All persons are identified as close contacts of the Minuwangoda garment factory-infected employees who were in quarantine at quarantine centres.

There is no aircraft arrivals reported, NOCPCO confirmed.

Coronavirus deaths in Sri Lanka have risen to 22 with Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry confirming the death of a female aged 68 years at Jampata Street, Colombo, the Government Information Department's statement announced yesterday (3).

The immediate cause of the death of the victim had been mentioned as Covid pneumonia and Director General of Health Services confirmed it as the 22nd COVID-19 death reported in the country, it stated.
