SL Navy apprehends Karala Cannabis worth over Rs. 63 million
November 05, 2020Sri Lanka Navy nabbed 02 suspects and seized 213 kilos of Kerala cannabis worth over Rs. 63 million, during operations, carried out in the sea area of Vettalakeni, today (05 Nov).
During the special operation conducted by Northern Naval Command apprehended 98 packages packed in 08 polythene bags after inspecting a dinghy in the sea area of Vettalakeni, SLN said.
Further, the suspects were the residents of Vettalakeni, Uduththurei and Aliyawalei, aged 36 and 41.
The suspects along with the stock of Kerala cannabis and dinghy were handed over to the Palei Police for onward legal action, SLN also said.
The operation was conducted adhering to health and safety guidelines to prevent COVID – 19.
