SL Army Manufactured UniCOLT Vehicles at SLEME Workshop

The Sri Lanka Electrical Mechanical and Engineering (SLEME) Regiment exhibited its newly-designed Gully Emptier, Water Bowser and Multi Purpose Truck to Chief of Defence and Commander of the Army Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva, yesterday (Nov 12).

The vehicles were locally-manufactured saving a large share of foreign exchange to the country.

The project was guided by Chief of Staff, Maj. Gen. Jagath Gunawardana, Deputy Chief of Staff, Maj. Gen. Duminda Sirinaga and Director, Directorate of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering in the Army, Brig. Indu Samarakoon.

The new Diesel Gully Emptier (UniCOLT GE) of 9500 kgs with 5000 litre capacity, water-cooled, Turbocharge, Air Conditioned Cabin, Audio system with reverse camera, GPS Tracking, Engine overheating alarm and several other specific features at the cost of Rs. 2.5 million.

The new Water Bowser (UniCOLT WB) with tank capacity of 8000 litres and many other features was manufactured at a cost of Rs 1.5 million while the Multi-Purpose Truck (UniCOLT MPT) was produced at a cost of Rs 1.1 million and is equipped with the Air Conditioned Cabin

The Army expects to manufacture these vehicles in future, aiming overseas assignments as per requirements of the Army.
