Army inaugurates mass-scale ‘yoghurt’ production
November 20, 2020Mass-scale ‘Gallant Yoghurt’ and dairy production unit was inaugurated at the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regimental HQ at Panagoda yesterday (19) during a ceremony, attended by, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Lt Gen. Shavendra Silva.
The SLLI Regiment at Panagoda, executes a variety of welfare projects for the welfare of Officers, Other Ranks, differently-abled War Heroes and their families.
The SLLI Seva Vanitha Unit contributes in some of them.
The project aims to produce ‘set yoghurts’, ‘yoghurt drinks’ and a few other associated products under very close hygienic and scientific procedures to reach external markets and sale outlets inside the Panagoda Army Cantonment.
The project is guided by Colonel of the Regiment Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment, Maj. Gen. Jayanath Jayaweera, Chairperson, SLLI-SVU, Mrs Anuja Jayaweera and Western Province Dairy Development Unit Head, Dr Devika Gamage.
Commander, Security Forces - West, Chairperson, SLLI-SVU, Centre Commandant, SLLI RHQ, Senior Officers, Officers, Seva Vanitha members, Other Ranks and other invitees were present at the occasion.
