SLN and Police nabbed illegal items
November 22, 2020The Sri Lanka Navy’s (SLN) North Central Naval Command coordinated with the Mannar Police apprehended 02 suspects with 710 kilos of smuggled dried turmeric and over 3 kilos and 700 grams of Kerala cannabis in the beach area of Erukkulampiddi in Mannar on 20 Nov, SLN said.
The suspects have been identified as residents of Erukkulampiddi, aged 35 years.
Suspects along with the seized turmeric, Kerala cannabis and their boat were handed over to the Mannar Police for onward legal proceedings.
The entire operation was carried out adhering to preventive measures stipulated for COVID – 19 pandemic, SLN also said.
