Maldivian Defence Minister paid a courtesy call on Defence Secretary
November 27, 2020Maldivian Defence Minister Hon. Mariya Didi paid a courtesy call on Defence Secretary Maj. Gen.(Retd) Kamal Gunaratne at the Ministry today (Nov 27).
The Defence Secretary held discussions with the visiting Maldivian Defence Minister Didi on matters of bilateral importance and mutual relevance during the session.
Meanwhile, collaborative approach to enhance defence cooperation, intelligence sharing and avenues to curb drug smuggling were also discussed.
Maj. Gen. Gunaratne expressed his fullest cooperation to strengthen the defence relationship between two countries.
Maldivian Defence Minister arrived in Colombo to participate at the 4th National Security Adviser Level Trilateral Meeting on Maritime Security Cooperation scheduled to be held on Nov 28 between India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
Following the bilateral discussion, mementos were exchanged to mark the occasion.
