SLN nabs a haul of smuggled contraband at the seas off Sawariyapuram
November 30, 2020During a special search operation carried out off the seas of Sawariyapuram, Silawathura on Nov 29, Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) nabbed 02 suspects attempting to smuggle an array of contraband into the island.
The SLN's Northwestern Naval Command led operation had earmarked and nabbed the suspicious dinghy carrying the haul of contraband.
Accordingly, 11750 tablets of controlled drug ‘Tramadol Hydrochloride’, 944 boxes of cigarette rolling paper, two mobile phones and a wireless headset were arrested.
Two suspects involved in this smuggling racket with the dinghy were taken into the custody.
The entire operation and arrest was performed in keeping with the healthcare guidelines, SLN said.
The suspect, resident of Sawariyapuram, Silawathura, aged 21 and items seized, were handed over to the Parayanakulam Police Special Task Force for onward legal proceedings.
