Army-constructed new house in Madu and a school playground in Batticaloa vested in
November 21, 2022Sri Lanka Army (SLA) with financial grants allocated by the Wanni District Secretariat constructed a new house for a needy family and vested it in a deserving family at Periyapandivirichchan, Madu recently.
Technically qualified soldiers of the 24 Gajaba Regiment under the Security Force Headquarters -Wanni provided engineering expertise and labour for the house construction, the SLA sources said.
The key of the new house was handed over to the beneficiary Mrs. Rasu Kaliamma who is a widow with two children, during a simple ceremony attended by several senior Officers, relatives and villagers, the Army added.
Meanwhile, the Army’s East-based troops built a playground for students at Vinayanagar Vidyalaya in Manmune, Batticaloa and formally vested it in the students recently.
The Army Media reported that 7 Field Sri Lanka Engineers troops with the support of 3 Corps of Engineer Services troops completed the project initiated on the directions of the Army Commander following a request of the Principal while the District Secretariat and relevant authorities of the Education Department liaised the move.
The Army stated that a Canada-based International Non-Governmental Organization volunteered to sponsor the cost of Rs. 6.25 m needed for the construction of the playground with a small pavilion in a land patch of 1.75 acres.
Senior Officers, Principal of Vinayanagar Vidyalaya, Mr. V. Pushpaharan, parents, and students declared the playground open for the students.
